a-z love: Q

In response to a favorite blogger of mine, I've also decided to hop on the "a-z love" train. 26 posts of straight love - beginning with each letter of the alphabet!

Q
quilts

(they're an art form.)

I can't sew to save me life, seriously. I was never really into learning how, either.

Back in the day, I was working - teaching - at the National Heritage Museum (worth a visit if you've never been - they pick up some really funky traveling exhibits), and they hosted Art of the Needle. A collection of quilts from the Shelbourne Museum.

Unbelievable.

piano

(taking me way back.)

When I was young, I took piano lessons. Of course, the bratty kid that I most certainly was, I whined until my parents let me quit. I wish I never had. I love the sound of a piano, and I can't wait until I live with one again to spend some honest time with it. The reverberations of the sound, the slow romance - or spunky fun - that it can create.

orchid
(it's the only plant that I can't seem to kill.)

I have this yellow-hued orchid, and I think it's beautiful. It only blooms twice a year for me (probably because I don't take proper care of it). But when it finally blooms, I know it's worth the wait.

a-z love: h

In response to a favorite blogger of mine, I've also decided to hop on the "a-z love" train. 26 posts of straight love - beginning with each letter of the alphabet! Well, 26 posts and I have something that drop right in the middle of me completing these "daily". Life dropped in! But I continue with...
H
heaven&hell
(yin&yang.)
Very existential for me, but true to my perspectives and love of life - and how I am able to do what I love.
Although I would never proclaim something like "heaven&hell" to exist, I recognize that to every side or point of view, there is an exact opposite. In order for there to be a place like heaven, there must be a place that would be the exact opposite. On cannot exist without the other; it is the essence of being. For every truth you believe in, someone believes the exact opposite. It is the recognition of the individual to comprehend that a yin cannot live without it's yang and vice versa - which is the most vital - where one will find come to an understanding of place and space.
Like I said, existential.

Orchid Away

I bought an orchid about 2 years ago, in full blossom. About 2 months later it lost all of its flowers and I thought that I was, yet again, doomed with a black thumb. After a bit of research, I discovered there are phases to an orchid's life cycle and it had nothing to do with my care.

And so, after a year of patience and 3 ice cubes/week, success.
